Japanese TV stations ran a breaking news on
Friday morning that South Korean military detected an earthquake in North
Korea. The news was developed to be the quake suspected as caused by an
experiment of nuclear explosion. After an announcement of North Korean media,
the quake was proved to be the fifth nuclear test of that isolated nation in
northeast of the country. All the Japanese government could do was to accuse
reckless Kim Jong-un regime of its violation of accumulated, but kept on
ignored, resolutions in United Nations Security Council.
Korean Central News Agency emphasized that
the experiment was exercised for evaluating the power of nuclear warhead and
was successful. “We finally reconfirmed the capability and power of warhead
loadable on ballistic missile. We became to be able to produce necessary amount
of nuclear warheads which are minimized, lightened, various and with high power
in striking,” told Nuclear Weapons Laboratory of North Korea in its statement.
The explosion test caused artificial
earthquake with magnitude 5.0, which energy was two times greater than in the
last test in January. South Korean government revealed its concern that the
development would be unexpectedly accelerated, although the minimization of
warhead had not be achieved enough to load it on a short-range ballistic
missile. But, some experts evaluate it to be loadable on mid-range Rodong
missile that include Japan within its targeting range.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe released
a statement that accused of the experiment as “significant threat on our
security and remarkably harming peace and security of the region and
international society.” United States President Barack Obama warned North Korea
that intimidation would bring serious consequences. Abe called Obama to make
additional sanction on North Korea, and urged South Korean President Park
Geun-hye further action against Kim Jong-un regime.
Two days before the experiment, North Korea
and China reconfirmed improvement of their diplomatic relationship in a
reception for celebrating national founding day of North Korea in its Embassy
in Beijing. Immediate betrayal against U.N.S.C. resolution must harm sentiment
of Chinese officials. Actually, a spokeswoman of Chinese Ministry of Foreign
Affairs accused North Korea of its nuclear test as unilateral activity raising
regional tension. However, China’s reluctant attitude on economic sanction only
makes North Korea puffed up. As long as the neighbor giant provide with fuel of
intimidation, the isolated regime would not refrain from demonstrating its
developed power.
