Imaginary love can sometimes cause
atrocious crime in Japan. A paranoiac mania of a female idol talent assaulted
her last May, stubbing her body with a knife 34 times. While she could manage
to save her life with medical treatment, she has been suffering from the memory
of being killed. The decision of the court was as easy as 14 years and 6 months
in prison.
Tomohiro Iwazaki, maniac fan of a female
college student and an idol Mayu Tomita, caught her in front of a club in
Koganei, Tokyo, and tried to kill her with knife. Iwazaki had been stalking
Tomita and kept on blackmailing her through Twitter. When she uploaded her
message that she liked to choose books by herself after Iwazaki presented her a
book, he got furious and decided to kill her.
Although she once fell in unconsciousness
and was losing eyesight, Tomita has recovered her mind and speech. In the
statement for the trial, Tomita revealed her anger against Iwazaki. “Everything
has really changed from the day. What I was accumulating or time I spent was taken
in a moment. One of them is body without a wound. I want him to return my
woundless body,” stated Tomita in Tachikawa Branch of Tokyo Regional Court
earlier this month.
She is in a serious condition of
post-traumatic stress disorder. When she tried to fall in asleep every night,
the memory of the assault would come up again in her mind and be unable to
sleep. The stalker is killing her again in her dream, making her sleepless. “I
am as regretful as being crazy with anger against him who made my body so damaged,”
told Tomita in the court.
Her nightmare may be getting true. The
court sentenced Iwazaki 14 years and 6 months in prison on Tuesday, accusing
his motivation to kill an innocent woman based on unilateral sentiment of love.
However, Tomita released a comment which revealed her concern on him being
released fourteen years later. “When I imagine that he will be walking out of
the wall about fourteen years later, I feel nothing but fear,” told Tomita in
her written comment.
Court basically hopes rehabilitation of
criminals. “You need to realize the significance of taking dream of the
sufferer. I hope you to acquire ordinary behavior abiding by rules,” said Chief
Judge Hiromi Abe to Iwazaki. While Iwazaki apologized her and promised not to approach
her, his grudge against her has not removed. It is possible that he will appear
in front of her as soon as he leaves the prison. It is the government that needs
to keep him away from her.
